Last Train is a legendary rock pub in central Oslo, Norway, with a history dating back to 24 November 1984. Often described as Norway’s oldest rock pub, it has remained closely connected to the city’s rock and alternative music scene for more than four decades. The musical profile is broad and ranges from classic rock and punk to alternative music and metal, with both DJs and live bands forming part of its history.
The pub is small and intimate, with a compact stage located close to the entrance. Over the years, the stage has hosted a remarkable number of Norwegian and international bands, often in surroundings considerably smaller than the venues many of them would normally play. Last Train has built much of its identity around this combination of a traditional rock pub atmosphere and close-up live performances.
Metal has always been part of the programme alongside the broader rock selection. Bands appearing at Last Train have included Entombed, Aura Noir, Obliteration, Nekromantheon, Virus, Blood Tsunami, Valhall, Golden Core and Shining, while Black Debbath has also performed on the small stage. The bookings have ranged from black and death metal to thrash, experimental metal and heavier rock.
