Marks Rock Club, also known as Marks Rock&UG Club, is a rock-oriented nightclub and live music venue in Joensuu, Finland. Located in the city centre along the pedestrian street, it has established itself as one of Joensuu’s specialist venues for rock-based nightlife rather than a general bar or mainstream club.
Live music is an important part of the venue’s identity. Marks has hosted frequent gigs ranging from smaller local bands to more established touring acts, which gives it a clearer role in the local live scene than that of an ordinary music bar. Past public listings connect the venue to artists and events such as Methane, Whispered, Chalkline and various punk and underground rock shows.
The club is also linked to the wider European metal network through events such as a Wacken Open Air warm-up party held there in 2017. That, together with its regular concert activity, gives Marks Rock Club a clear place within Joensuu’s rock and metal environment rather than only its general nightlife.
