Melodka is an independent live music club in Brno, Czech Republic. The current venue is located on Pisárecká Street, after several moves from the club’s long-running historic home on Kounicova Street.

The name has roots going back to 1929, when the Melodie music wine bar opened as part of the stadium complex on Kounicova Street. The place became known among visitors as Melodka, a nickname that later returned as the official name of the club.

The modern Melodka developed from the same Kounicova premises. After a period in which the space was used for different club concepts, including techno-oriented nights, a change of operator in 2006 brought back the Melodka name and established the venue in a form closer to the present club.

The old Kounicova room was initially basic, with improvised stage and lighting solutions. A major reconstruction in 2008 gave the club a proper stage, improved sound and lighting, and a more professional live music setup. Melodka then became one of Brno’s established small venues for rock, punk, hardcore, metal and other alternative music.

Bands that have played Melodka include Trivium, Taake, Rotting Christ, Pro-Pain, Hirax, Blaze Bayley, Circle II Circle, Waltari, Root and Arakain, Infected Rain, alongside many Czech underground bands and international touring acts.

Melodka left the Kounicova Street site at the end of 2023. In January 2024, it reopened temporarily at Palackého třída in Královo Pole, in the former Bavorská pivnice premises. That location gave the club a new industrial character and more space, but it was never intended as a permanent home.

After another move, Melodka continued at its current site near Pisárecká Street and Střelák. The new location keeps the club active as a multi-genre live venue, with indoor concerts and the possibility of outdoor events around the building.

Heavy music remains a regular part of Melodka’s programme, with rock, punk, hardcore, death metal, black metal, folk metal and melodic death metal appearing alongside other genres. The club also supports smaller and emerging bands through its recurring Free Night events, helping maintain its role in Brno’s local live music scene.
