Midgardsblot is an annual festival in Norway that combines metal and Viking heritage, set among the Viking burial mounds at Borre in partnership with the Midgard Viking Centre near Horten. The festival started in 2025 with two full days, and one pre-day with a few bands. Today the festival har four full days with festival, even that the first two days have fewer bands.
Held over several days in mid-August, it pairs international heavy acts with cultural programming—talks, films, re-enactments, and markets—alongside a Viking village, fjord-side camps, and an opening blót ritual. The setting makes it as much a heritage gathering as a music festival, fostering an inclusive, community-minded atmosphere. Today, it ranks among the world’s most unique metal festivals, drawing both metal fans and Viking enthusiasts from across the globe.
