PAHA KURKI ROCKHOUSE

Paha Kurki Rockhouse is a rock bar and restaurant in Rovaniemi, Finland. Located in the city centre, it presents itself as “the northernmost rock bar in the Arctic Circle” and is one of Finnish Lapland’s clearest rock-oriented nightlife spots.

The venue has a strongly developed rock’n’roll identity, visible already from the outside. Its façade features the Paha Kurki logo with a crane motif set into a saw blade, while the “Rockhouse” lettering in the logo is styled in a Kiss-like font. The name also fits the visual theme, as “kurki” means crane in Finnish, while the restaurant’s food profile is built around chicken.

Inside, Paha Kurki Rockhouse is heavily decorated with rock memorabilia and visual details. Several signed instruments are displayed in cases, including Nikki Sixx’s bass, Gene Simmons’ Axe Bass, a Flying V connected to Hanoi Rocks and a guitar connected to Lordi. Other signed guitars, gold records and rock-related objects are placed around the venue, giving the interior a much stronger character than a standard bar.

The décor continues into smaller details, including leather sofas, a guitar-shaped door handle and a urinal shaped like the Rolling Stones tongue logo. The venue also runs its own Rockstore with Paha Kurki merchandise and shirts designed by Mr. Lordi. Together with its Arctic Circle location, rock-focused food and drink concept and extensive memorabilia, Paha Kurki Rockhouse is one of the more distinctive rock bars in northern Europe.
