PIT & PENDULUM

Pit & Pendulum is a Gothic-themed rock and alternative pub in Nottingham city centre, named after Edgar Allan Poe’s 1842 short story “The Pit and the Pendulum”. The venue is laid out across three levels, with basement and upper-floor bar areas that are typically used most fully on busier nights, and it’s known for an interior built around dark, medieval-and-alchemy style décor rather than a standard pub look. The building itself is Grade II listed on Historic England’s register under the name “Pit and Pendulum”.
