Port of Hell is a heavy metal festival held at Skovdalen in Aalborg, Denmark. The festival was established in 2025 through a collaboration between Aalborg Rock og Metal and Marienhaab Koncert- og Kulturforening, with the latter serving as the organisation behind the event.

The festival was created as an outdoor event devoted to hard rock and heavy metal, using the athletics stadium in the wooded Skovdalen area south of central Aalborg. This gives Port of Hell a setting different from the city’s indoor metal events, with a full open-air production placed inside an established urban sports and concert area.

The first Port of Hell took place on 6 September 2025 with an all-Danish line-up consisting of Baest, Mercenary, Katla and Speedslut. More than 1,000 people attended the first edition, considerably exceeding expectations for a new one-day metal festival in Aalborg.

The second edition, held on 4 and 5 September 2026, expanded Port of Hell from one to two days. The programme also became more international, with Swedish industrial metal band Clawfinger and German black metal band Vorga appearing alongside Danish acts such as Mnemic, HateSphere, Defecto, Endarken, Crown the Beast, Speedslut, Ashes of Billy and Fatal Image.

Skovdalen Atletikstadion was developed in its present form during the late 1950s in an area that had previously been used as a gravel pit. The surrounding Skovdalen has a longer tradition of outdoor concerts and cultural events, and Port of Hell adapts the stadium setting specifically for heavy music.

Port of Hell adds another heavy event to Aalborg’s already active metal scene, which also includes Aalborg Rock og Metal, Rocken and the long-running Aalborg Metal Festival. Its first editions show a festival built around Danish metal roots, North Jutland identity and a growing ambition to bring international hard rock and metal acts to Skovdalen.
