Protzen is a small village in Fehrbellin municipality, Brandenburg, Germany, with around 500 residents. Set in the flat countryside of the Rhinluch area northwest of Berlin, it has a quiet rural character shaped by farming, peat extraction and small local industry. The village’s main landmark is its late-Romanesque fieldstone church, probably built in the 13th century, with a 32-metre slate-covered tower added in 1682. Protzen also has an old manor house from the mid-18th century, later used as a school, and lies close to the town of Fehrbellin, known for the 1675 Battle of Fehrbellin and its Brandenburg-Prussian history. For visitors, this is a countryside stop rather than a classic city destination, best reached by car while travelling through Ostprignitz-Ruppin or between Berlin, Neuruppin and the wider Brandenburg lake-and-marsh landscape.
