Pustervik is a concert venue, nightclub and bar at Järntorgsgatan 12–14, close to Järntorget in Gothenburg, Sweden. Its modern live-music history dates back to the late 1990s, although the building has been used for entertainment and culture since the 1920s. Today the programme covers rock, metal, punk, indie, pop, electronic music and other genres across two main performance spaces.
The building originally housed a cinema and operated under several names over the years, including Järntorgsbiografen, Rialto and Prisma. It was later converted for theatre use, with Nationalteatern based there for several years before Pusterviksteatern took over. During the same period, the adjoining Pusterviksbaren developed its own identity as a concert and club venue, becoming an important part of Gothenburg’s alternative nightlife from 1998 onwards.
Following extensive renovations, Pustervik reopened in its present form in April 2012. The former cinema and theatre auditorium became Stora Klubben, the main concert room, with a standing capacity of around 900 people. The old balcony remains part of the hall, preserving a visible link to the building’s earlier life. Pustervik also contains several bars and the smaller Matsalen, which holds around 250 people and is used for more intimate concerts and club events.
Rock and metal are regular parts of the programme. Dark Tranquillity and Ensiferum played two consecutive shows at Pustervik in May 2022, while Gothenburg band The Halo Effect performed there the following year. Other heavy acts appearing at the venue have included Cannibal Corpse and Saxon, while the 2026–27 programme has featured or announced bands and artists such as Testament, Armored Saint, Thy Art Is Murder, Devin Townsend, Gloryhammer, Pretty Maids and U.D.O.
Its location beside Järntorget places Pustervik within one of Gothenburg’s best-established nightlife areas, while the 900-capacity main hall makes it an important stop for touring bands that have moved beyond the city’s smaller clubs. The building’s long history as a cinema, theatre and concert venue is still clearly reflected in the old auditorium, giving Pustervik a character that differs from a purpose-built modern music hall.
