René Jansen (20 August 1969 – 3 December 2014) was the bass player for the Norwegian death metal band Cadaver from 1989 to 1990, and played on their debut album Hallucinating Anxiety (1990).
In 2013, he reunited with his former Cadaver bandmate Anders Odden in a new band called Order, together with former Mayhem members Messiah and Manheim.
Jansen passed away on 3 December 2014, just three months after being diagnosed with leukemia. He was 45 years old.
The three surviving members of Order performed at his funeral on Friday, 12 December, honouring his last wish by playing three songs during the ceremony: a cover of Celtic Frost’s classic Procreation of the Wicked and two of Order’s original tracks, Savage and Triumph of Death.
Jansen is buried at Rolvsøy kirkegård, near Fredrikstad, in plot 04. His tombstone features an engraving of a bass guitar.
