Rock & Chill Hotel Falter is a rock and heavy metal-themed hotel at Zellertalstraße 6 in Drachselsried, a small village in the Bavarian Forest in southeastern Germany. The hotel was originally opened by the Falter family in 1967 and has remained under family ownership for three generations. Theresa and Marinus Falter took over the business in 2017 and began an extensive renovation of the property.
After several years of operating it as a traditional hotel, the couple decided to build a new identity around their own interest in rock and heavy metal. On 1 March 2023, the property was relaunched as Rock & Chill Hotel Falter, with music becoming a central part of the interior, atmosphere and overall concept.
The hotel has 20 rooms with accommodation for up to 45 guests. Several are individually designed Rock Edition rooms, decorated with framed vinyl records, band photographs, guitars and furniture made from repurposed musical equipment. Drum shells have been converted into tables, while stage lighting and other objects associated with live music are incorporated into the furnishings. Each room also has a Marshall Bluetooth speaker.
The theme continues throughout the reception area, corridors and communal spaces, where rock and metal music forms a regular part of the atmosphere. Guests receive festival-style wristbands when checking in, extending the concert and festival influence beyond the decoration.
Rock & Chill Hotel Falter also includes an indoor swimming pool, saunas and relaxation areas. The musical concept even reaches the wellness facilities, with special beer-infused sauna sessions accompanied by heavy metal.
The adjoining restaurant, Fräulein Anna, is operated by the same family and is also open to non-residents. Marinus Falter, a trained chef, oversees the kitchen. The restaurant was extensively redesigned in 2020, three years before the hotel adopted its current rock and metal identity.
The concept reflects the owners’ own connection with heavy music. Marinus Falter has been a metal fan since his youth and trained as a chef alongside Ludwig “Lucki” Maurer, bassist and vocalist of German black metal band Seasons in Black. The hotel also maintains links with festivals, musicians and venues in the surrounding Bavarian Forest region.
