Skjold is a small village in Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland, Western Norway, with just under 1,000 residents (about 997 in 2025). It sits at the northern end of the Skjoldafjord along the E134 highway, roughly 25 km northeast of Haugesund, making it an easy stop on the main east–west route between the coast and inland Norway. Skjold has medieval roots and was historically the administrative centre of the former Skjold municipality (1838–1965). The village’s main landmark is Skjold Church, whose history goes back to the 13th century, although the current octagonal church building dates from 1998 after the previous church burned in 1992.
