SÓLHEIMASANDUR PLANE WRECK

Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck is a United States Navy DC plane that ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur in 1973, in the South Coast of Iceland. The remains are still on the sand very close to the sea.

The plane is a big part of the Icelandic band Sólstafir’s music video to their beautiful song “Fjara” from 2011. Many other bands, films and TV-series have been filming at the plane crash site; from Justin Bieber to Top Gear to Katla.
