ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH

May 1st 1976 Iron Maiden played their first ever gig at St. Nicholas Hall in Poplar, London. The line-up for the very first Iron Maiden gig was Steve Harris, Terry Rance, Dave Sullivan, Ron Matthews and Paul Mario Day.

St. Nicholas Church was also the place where Influence (later changed name to Gypsy’s Kiss) played their first gig in July 1974. The line up featured Steve Harris (Bass), Bob Verschoyle (Vocals), Paul Sears (Drums), Dave Smith (Guitar), and Roy Middleton (Guitar).

The gig with Influence was the first gig for Steve Harris. The gig was at a talent contest called the Aberfeldy Street Festival, organized by Dave Beasley (later to be known as Dave Lights) at St. Nicholas Parish Community House, in London’s Poplar district. The band came on second.
