Tarantula, also known as Tarantula Hardrock Pub & Club, is a rock and heavy metal pub at Johannesstraße 149 in the historic centre of Erfurt, Germany. Established in August 2012, the bar specialises in classic hard rock and heavy metal, with bands such as Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Guns N’ Roses and Megadeth forming part of the regular soundtrack.
The pub is spread across two floors. The ground floor contains a traditional wooden bar and seating area, while a vaulted cellar below provides additional space. The interior is relatively dark, with wooden furniture and the character of an old-fashioned rock pub.
The basement contains pool tables, table football and dart machines, together with a separate smoking area. A chess table can also be found upstairs. Music is played through the pub’s jukebox and sound system, keeping rock and metal at the centre of the atmosphere throughout both levels.
The drinks selection includes beer, whisky, cocktails and large long drinks, while a small food menu offers simple pub food such as currywurst. More than a decade after opening, Tarantula continues to maintain the straightforward hard rock and heavy metal identity established in 2012.
