The Black Rose Tavern is a rock bar and live music venue in Edinburgh, Scotland. Located on Rose Street in the New Town, it is one of the city’s established specialist bars for rock and alternative music. The venue combines bar service, food and regular live activity, with a profile built around rock, metal, goth and punk culture.
The site has housed a pub for many years, but took on its present identity when it was renamed The Black Rose Tavern and turned into a rock bar in the 2000s. Since then, it has become known for live music, open mic nights, rock karaoke and an alternative jukebox built around metal, rock, goth and punk.
The Black Rose Tavern has also received wider local recognition, including Best Overall Bar in Edinburgh at the Best Bar None Awards in 2017 and 2018.
