THE SOUND GARDEN BALTIMORE

The Sound Garden is an independent record store in Baltimore, Maryland. Located in the historic Fell’s Point district, the shop opened in 1993 and has become one of the city’s best-known music stores, with a large selection of new and used vinyl, CDs, movies, turntables and related music items.

The store works across many genres rather than focusing only on metal, but its size and broad catalogue make it an important stop for record collectors in Baltimore. Rock, punk, metal and other guitar-based styles sit within a wider selection that also covers mainstream, alternative and specialist music.

The Sound Garden is also known for in-store events and signings. Its Fell’s Point location has a special place in record-store history, as the idea for Record Store Day was developed nearby in 2007 during a gathering hosted by Sound Garden owner Bryan Burkert. With its long history, large physical catalogue and connection to Record Store Day, The Sound Garden remains one of Baltimore’s most important independent record shops.
