UnderWerket is a small underground live music venue at Valgårdsvej 2 in the Valby district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Located in the basement of the youth cultural centre KraftWerket beside Toftegårds Plads, the venue has a capacity of around 120 standing or 40 seated spectators. Its programme focuses on independent and alternative music, with punk, hardcore and metal particularly prominent alongside experimental rock and other underground styles.

The concert room covers around 100 square metres and has exposed brick walls, vaulted ceilings, polished concrete floors and old punk posters. The stage is only 25 centimetres high, creating very little separation between the bands and the audience. An adjoining bar and backstage area follow the same raw, informal style, while larger events can also make use of other rooms at KraftWerket and the neighbouring Valby Kulturhus.

UnderWerket has operated as part of KraftWerket since at least the early 2010s and has strong ties to Copenhagen’s DIY music scene. Many concerts are organised by independent promoter collectives and young local organisers rather than through a single booking operation. Murda Twinz has been one of the groups most closely associated with the venue, arranging DIY hardcore shows in Copenhagen since around 2010 and using UnderWerket regularly for concerts and events. Bands appearing there have included American hardcore veterans Negative Approach alongside numerous Danish underground acts, while recurring events have included Murda Twinz Getdown and Nasty Cut Fest.

Metal has become an increasingly visible part of the programme alongside punk and hardcore. Black metal, death metal, crust, sludge and metalcore all appear regularly, with bands such as Völva, Landsknægt, Svækling, MITE, Fordærv and Sloevsind among those to have played at the venue. UnderWerket remains closely associated with emerging bands, DIY promoters and smaller international touring acts, giving it a distinct place within Copenhagen’s underground heavy music scene.
