Vinyl Command is an independent heavy metal record store at 930 West Southern Avenue in Mesa, Arizona. Opened on 1 August 2023, the shop is operated by two business partners with backgrounds in the music industry and specialises almost entirely in heavy metal, with a smaller selection of hard rock. The physical store covers around 1,000 square feet and is complemented by an extensive online shop.
The selection spans traditional heavy metal, speed metal, thrash, black metal, death metal, doom and grindcore, with a strong emphasis on underground and extreme releases. New and second-hand vinyl records form the core of the stock, alongside CDs, cassette tapes, limited editions and original pressings. Bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer and Death are represented alongside more obscure releases from independent labels around the world.
Vinyl Command also carries band T-shirts, patches and stickers, as well as turntables, speakers and other record-playing equipment. Used metal records, CDs and cassettes can be bought, sold or traded through the shop, and records are also accepted on consignment.
The entire inventory is listed online, allowing customers to order for collection at the Mesa store or for shipping within the United States. The shop’s own visual identity includes a distinctive yellow toad mascot, which also appears on Vinyl Command merchandise.
