LUBIĄŻ

Lubiąż is a small Lower Silesian riverside settlement of around 2,000–3,000 people on the east bank of the Odra (Oder), in Wołów County, about 54 km northwest of Wrocław. It’s best known for the vast Lubiąż Abbey, a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1175 by Duke Bolesław I the Tall and built up over centuries into one of the largest abbey complexes in Europe. The abbey dominates the townscape and is the clear main reason to visit, with the river setting and flat surrounding countryside making the area easy for short walks and a quiet day trip base.
