Świny Castle (Zamek Świny) is a medieval castle ruin in the village of Świny in Lower Silesia, south-west Poland, near the town of Bolków. The site is recorded in written sources from 1108 and developed from an early fortified stronghold into a stone castle, later linked for centuries to the Śwink / von Schweinichen family. Key surviving elements include the tall residential-defensive tower and fragments from later Gothic and Renaissance phases. The castle declined after Bolków Castle became the region’s main fortress, and it suffered major damage from storms and fire in the 19th century. In modern times it has been privately owned (since 1991) and has undergone conservation work to stabilise and make parts of the ruins accessible to visitors.
The castle is also used as a metal-related filming location through Behemoth’s XXX Years ov Blasphemy project. XXX Years ov Blasphemy is a 30th-anniversary live production filmed across three different locations and presented in three separate acts, originally premiered as an online event in 2021 and later issued as an official live release. Portions of the performance footage and surrounding visual material were filmed at Świny Castle, using the ruins as one of the production’s cinematic settings.
