La Maison Hantée is a rock and metal pub in Marseille, France. Located close to the Cours Julien area, it has been part of Marseille’s rock nightlife for more than 30 years and combines a pub, restaurant, pool table and small live music space.
The name means “The Haunted House”, and the venue follows that theme strongly. The outside is decorated with a black lower façade showing the outlines of a haunted house, ghosts, a witch, bats and rows of staring eyes. Inside, the horror-inspired decoration continues, giving the pub a darker and more theatrical character than a standard rock bar.
The interior also includes rock and metal details, including Motörhead and Slipknot flags. The venue has a very small stage, with an upper floor overlooking the performance area. Outside, a few tables and chairs give the pub a small street-side seating area.
La Maison Hantée serves home-made food and drinks and hosts live music, DJ nights and smaller concerts. Its combination of rock and metal music, horror-themed décor, food, drinks and compact stage gives the pub one of the more distinctive visual identities in Marseille’s rock nightlife.
