Ren’s Den is a small independent live music venue in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Located on 4th Street SW in the Barelas neighbourhood, it operates as an all-ages DIY performance space with a strong connection to the city’s underground music scene.
The building has older music history. In the 1960s, the address was connected to a small recording space and local Spanish-language record labels, including Hurricane Records, Del Norte Records and Cristy Records. Ren’s Den continues that musical use of the building in a different form, as a family-run venue for live underground music.
The current venue was converted from a former boxing gym into a compact performance space. Its small size gives shows a close floor-show atmosphere, with the audience and bands sharing the room more directly than in a traditional stage-and-bar setup.
Ren’s Den hosts punk, hardcore, metal, goth, industrial, darkwave and other underground events. Its calendar includes local bands, touring acts, DIY shows and themed nights, giving it an important place in Albuquerque’s punk, metal and alternative scene.
The venue is also connected to the city’s wider underground infrastructure through local recordings, small-scene networking and all-ages access. This makes Ren’s Den a grassroots music space rather than a polished commercial club, with its identity built around community, accessibility and live underground music.
