Masters of Rock Café is a rock and metal club, café and concert venue in Zlín, Czech Republic. Located on Tyršovo nábřeží, it opened on 30 November 2005 and is operated by Pragokoncert Bohemia, the promoter behind the Masters of Rock festival.
The venue was created as a permanent club connected to the Masters of Rock name. German rock band Die Happy, fronted by Czech singer Marta Jandová, played the opening concert. Shortly afterwards, the club was also used for events connected to the first Winter Masters of Rock.
Masters of Rock Café combines a daytime café with a separate multi-purpose concert hall. The main hall has a standing capacity of around 500 people, while seated configurations can accommodate up to 348. The venue is used for concerts, theatre productions, talk shows and other cultural events.
The café side keeps a strong connection to rock and metal culture. The walls are decorated with band flags, photographs, posters and memorabilia donated by musicians from different countries, many of them connected to Masters of Rock and other Pragokoncert events.
Hard rock and metal form a major part of the live programme, especially melodic metal, power metal, symphonic metal and traditional heavy metal. Artists who have played Masters of Rock Café include Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Firewind, Rage, Stratovarius, HammerFall, Crystal Viper and numerous Czech and international bands.
The venue also hosts punk, ska, pop, theatre and other cultural events, reflecting its role as a multi-purpose hall as well as a rock club. Its name, ownership, decoration and regular metal bookings give Masters of Rock Café a strong place in Zlín’s rock and metal scene.
