ATOMIC GARDEN

Atomic Garden is a rock-oriented craft beer pub at Carrer de Borguny 2 in the Santa Catalina neighbourhood of Palma, Mallorca, Spain. Established in 2006 by Jaume Pons, the bar operates under the motto “Beer, Rock & Movies”, combining an extensive beer selection with music ranging from classic rock and punk to thrash, death metal and alternative rock. Pons has described the musical approach as deliberately broad, with Obituary just as likely to appear on the playlist as Tom Petty.

The interior is packed with memorabilia accumulated over the years. Vintage film posters cover much of the walls, alongside rock-related artwork, figurines, skateboards and various objects referencing cinema and popular culture. The relatively small premises have a distinctly informal appearance, with wooden stools, crowded shelves and decorations occupying almost every available space. Beer is another major part of Atomic Garden’s identity. The selection includes four rotating draught taps and an extensive assortment of bottled and canned craft beers from Mallorca, mainland Spain and international breweries. The bar also serves cider, cocktails and other drinks.

Atomic Garden has operated for nearly two decades, although its history has not been without difficulties. At one point, repeated noise complaints from neighbours threatened its future, prompting the owners to invest considerably in soundproofing the premises. The bar also holds regular quiz nights and other social events.

Its connection with the local music scene extends well beyond the pub itself. Pons organises the annual Atomic Fest, an independent indoor music festival featuring bands from Mallorca, mainland Spain and occasionally other countries. The programme covers punk, hardcore, alternative rock and metal without restricting itself to a particular genre. Previous editions have included The Good the Bad and the Zugly, Scumbag Millionaire, Berri Txarrak, Trallery and Guadaña. The ninth edition took place at Es Gremi in November 2025, featuring nine bands across two stages, including Mourn, Weak, Prosthetics, Dry As Blood and post-metal band Marasme. The festival has developed into an established part of Mallorca’s alternative music calendar, organised independently by the people behind Atomic Garden.
