Distortion Pub, also known as Distortion Pub – Craft Beer & Rock and Roll, is a rock bar located at 295 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu in Hoi An, Vietnam. Situated a short distance from the city’s historic Old Town, the pub is run by Canadian owner Ryan and combines rock music with a selection of Vietnamese craft beers. Unlike many of the bars in Hoi An, which cater primarily to tourists with mainstream music, Distortion concentrates on rock, punk and harder-edged alternative music.
The pub has a small, informal interior centred around a bar counter, with additional tables and board games. Its musical selection ranges from classic rock to punk and hard rock, including bands such as The Rolling Stones, Misfits, The Offspring and Temple of the Dog. Less familiar album tracks are also part of the playlist, and the staff take music requests. Although Distortion is not exclusively a heavy metal bar, its emphasis on guitar-driven music makes it one of the few establishments of its kind in Hoi An.
Distortion also has a particular interest in craft beer, serving a changing selection of Vietnamese brews on tap. These include beers from Heart of Darkness, a craft brewery based in Ho Chi Minh City. Rather than operating as a large nightclub or dedicated concert venue, Distortion is a relatively small neighbourhood-style rock pub, attracting both local regulars and foreign visitors.
