Heaven & Hell Record Shop is an independent heavy metal record shop in Section 22 of Bangkok’s Chatuchak Weekend Market. Run by Poowanat, the shop specialises in international and Thai metal and has long served as a meeting place for local metal fans, musicians and expatriates living in Bangkok. The small shop is densely packed with physical music and merchandise. Vinyl records, CDs and cassette tapes cover both established international bands and more obscure underground releases, while Thai metal is also strongly represented. Band shirts and other merchandise fill much of the remaining space.

Heaven & Hell has been part of Chatuchak’s music trade for many years. The business originally concentrated heavily on second-hand heavy metal records, CDs and tapes before gradually broadening its stock while retaining metal as its main identity.The social side is also an important part of the shop. Poowanat and other metal fans regularly gather around the premises to listen to music, drink beer and talk about bands, records and concerts. Beer is sold at the shop, and customers often remain there after browsing the records.

As part of Chatuchak Weekend Market, the original shop operates only on Saturdays and Sundays. Its location among the market’s thousands of stalls gives it an unusual setting, with food vendors and other shops surrounding the small metal store.
