Mesa is a large city in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA, with more than 515,000 people, making it one of the biggest cities in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Founded by Mormon settlers in 1878 and incorporated in 1883, it grew from an irrigated desert farming community into a major suburban, cultural and education hub in the East Valley.
