Long Beach is a coastal city in Los Angeles County, California, USA, with about 451,000 people, making it one of the largest cities in the county after Los Angeles. Incorporated in 1897, it grew from a seaside resort and harbour town into a major port, oil, aerospace and naval city, and today it is best known for its waterfront, diverse neighbourhoods, music and arts scene, and the Port of Long Beach. Key sights include the Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific, Shoreline Village, the Museum of Latin American Art, Belmont Shore, Retro Row on 4th Street, and the beaches and marina areas along the Pacific coast. The city also has a strong bar, venue and alternative-culture scene spread between Downtown, 4th Street, Zaferia and other neighbourhoods. Getting in and around is straightforward via Long Beach Airport, the Metro A Line to Los Angeles, buses, road links across the LA basin and nearby Los Angeles International Airport.
