APOLLON PLATEBAR - Metal Travels

Apollon Platebar is an independent record shop and craft beer bar in central Bergen, Norway. Established as Apollon Platebar in 1976, it is one of Norway’s longest-running record shops and has remained part of Bergen’s music scene for several decades.

The shop carries music across a wide range of genres, with hard rock and heavy metal forming a substantial part of the selection. Vinyl is particularly well represented, including both major international bands and more specialised Norwegian and underground releases, alongside CDs and other music-related items.

In 2012, Apollon expanded the traditional record-shop concept by adding a bar. Records and beer share the same premises, allowing customers to browse the shelves or sit down with a drink surrounded by the shop’s music collection. Craft beer forms an important part of the bar, with both Norwegian and international breweries represented.

Apollon also hosts small concerts, release events, signing sessions, listening parties and other music-related gatherings, extending its role beyond record sales.

In June 2021, the Apollon concept expanded beyond Bergen with the opening of Apollon Platebar Tønsberg, combining a record shop, craft beer bar and event space based on the same model as the original.
