Backstage Rockbar is a long-running rock and metal bar and live venue in Trollhättan, Sweden. Opened in 2007, it has developed into one of the city’s established gathering places for heavy music, combining a pub, restaurant and concert venue under the same roof.
The venue has two bars, a dedicated stage and a dancefloor, with a dark, low-lit interior that fits its rock and metal profile. Food is also an important part of the operation, with burgers, Tex-Mex dishes and recurring Friday taco buffets served alongside beer and other drinks.
Live music forms a regular part of the programme, with Swedish and international bands appearing on the stage alongside NEMIS showcase nights and other club concerts. Quizzes, stand-up and other events are also held between the heavier music nights. Slot machines and a blackjack table add to the traditional rock-pub character.
Hundreds of bands have played at Backstage Rockbar since it opened, giving the venue a long-standing role in Trollhättan’s local rock and metal scene. Its own motto, “smells of heavy metal, burgers and beer”, neatly sums up the combination of live music, food and pub atmosphere that has defined the place since 2007.
