BETTY

Betty is a live music club at Hamburger Berg 13 in Hamburg’s St. Pauli district. Opened in September 2025, it occupies the premises formerly used by headCRASH, which had operated at the address since 2007. BETTY is run by PAKT Entertainment and continued the building’s long association with live music after the closure of its predecessor.

The venue is divided across two levels. The main concert room upstairs holds approximately 270–300 people and was extensively upgraded before the opening of Betty, with a new L-Acoustics sound system, improved lighting, a larger backstage area and additional facilities for touring bands. Downstairs is a bar and the smaller Newcomer Stage, with space for around 100 people and a focus on local and emerging artists.

Both floors are also used for club nights, with music ranging through punk, emo, grunge, metal, indie and post-punk. Rock, punk, hardcore and heavy metal have remained an important part of the concert programme, with early bookings including Cryptopsy, Inferi, Conan, Lost Society, Sigh and Devil Master.

The Betty name has a connection to the history of the surrounding neighbourhood. It commemorates Betty Heinemann, wife of Hamburg banker and philanthropist Salomon Heine. Hamburger Berg was known as Heinestraße from 1865 until the street name was removed by the Nazi authorities in 1938. The operators deliberately chose BETTY as a reference to this local history when establishing the new venue.

The conversion of the former headCRASH premises was also supported by the City of Hamburg, with up to €171,000 provided through a renovation fund. The money contributed to improvements including new sound and lighting equipment, acoustic work and soundproofing.
