Bounty Rock Cafe is a rock-oriented restaurant and concert venue at Hálkova 2 in the Hodolany district of Olomouc, Czech Republic, with its main entrance facing třída Kosmonautů. Established around 2010 by Dušan Neumann, it developed from a small neighbourhood bar called Bounty, which had previously been a gathering place for local bikers. Neumann retained the original name when he took over the premises, adding Rock Cafe to reflect the venue’s new musical direction.
The original Bounty Rock Cafe consisted of a small bar, a stage at the rear and an outdoor seating area. After approximately ten years of operation, Neumann began a major expansion in 2021, taking over adjoining premises and commissioning designer Daniel Casa to develop the new interior. The rebuilt complex can accommodate up to 500 standing concertgoers, with a soundproof partition allowing the restaurant and concert area to operate independently.
The expansion also gave Bounty Rock Cafe a considerably more elaborate appearance. Two enormous guitar sculptures frame the main entrance, while the interior is decorated with large portraits of rock musicians, resembling a gallery devoted to the genre’s history. Among the artists depicted are Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, Roman Dragoun, Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart.
The concert programme covers classic rock, hard rock, progressive rock, blues and heavy metal. International artists who have performed at Bounty Rock Cafe include Steve Hackett, former Mr. Big vocalist Eric Martin, Ray Wilson, Beth Hart, former Judas Priest singer Tim “Ripper” Owens and founding Saxon guitarist Paul Quinn. Czech metal has also been well represented, with bands such as Insania, Limetal, Calibos, Porta Inferi and Hand Grenade appearing at the venue. Local musicians and tribute bands form another part of the programme, with Olomouc blues-rock group Bluesberg having been the first band to perform at Bounty Rock Cafe.
The venue also gave rise to Bounty Rock Cafe Open Air, an annual outdoor festival launched in 2011. Initially centred on tribute bands, the event gradually expanded to include established international and Czech artists. Held at the historic Korunní pevnůstka in Olomouc, the 2019 edition featured Vinny Appice Band performing material from Black Sabbath’s “Live Evil”, alongside progressive rock band Riverside, 7 Miles to Pittsburgh and Czech supergroup BSP.
Bounty Rock Cafe also operates as a full-service restaurant, serving Czech and international dishes alongside its concert activities. Its development from a small neighbourhood bar into a 500-capacity venue, together with its extensive rock-themed interior and outdoor festival, has made it an established part of Olomouc’s live music scene.
