Bovine Sex Club is a rock, punk and alternative live music bar in Toronto, Canada. Opened in January 1991, it is located on Queen Street West and has become one of the most recognisable underground rock bars on Toronto’s Queen West strip.
The bar is known for its chaotic exterior and interior, decorated with scrap metal, bicycle parts, junkyard objects, stickers and other found materials. Its music profile has covered punk, rock’n’roll, hard rock, metal, alternative, rockabilly, glam and other guitar-driven styles, with local and touring bands forming a central part of its history.
Artists associated with Bovine Sex Club’s live history include Cancer Bats, Anti-Flag, Against Me!, Sum 41, Alexisonfire and Monster Truck. The venue also includes the upstairs Tiki Bar, giving the building a second, more tropical-themed space above the darker and more chaotic rock bar downstairs.
