Crispin Glover Record Shop is an independent record store at Kjøpmannsgata 48, inside Olavshallen in central Trondheim, Norway. Opened in October 2017 by Torgeir Lund, formerly manager of the Trondheim branch of Big Dipper, the shop specialises in new and second-hand vinyl covering rock, hard rock, metal, punk, progressive rock, jazz and alternative music. The selection also includes books and music-related merchandise, with particular attention given to Norwegian artists and the Trondheim music scene. Record store veteran Gunnar Øra, previously of Nidaros Bok og Vinyl, is also part of the team.
The shop is closely connected with Crispin Glover Records, the independent label established by Torgeir Lund and Rune Holm in 2005. The label has released music by numerous Trondheim artists, including Spidergawd, Black Moon Circle, Brutal Kuk, Moving Oos, Sugarfoot and Øyvind Holm, covering everything from hard rock and psychedelic music to punk and alternative rock.
The name comes from American actor Crispin Glover, while the label’s original logo was inspired by the hairstyle of his character in the 2003 horror film “Willard”. Lund has subsequently met Glover on several occasions, and the actor reportedly found the use of his name amusing.
Crispin Glover Record Shop also has a small purpose-built stage for live performances. Much of the furniture and record racks can be moved to accommodate an audience, allowing the premises to host intimate concerts, album launches, artist signings and other events. The shop has also participated in Trondheim Calling, arranging in-store performances and record fairs during the annual music conference and showcase festival.
