Dante’s is a live music venue and alternative nightclub in Portland, Oregon. Located on West Burnside Street in the Old Town Chinatown area, it opened in 2000 and has become one of Portland’s long-running late-night venues for live music, performance and alternative nightlife.
The venue combines concerts, club nights, cabaret, burlesque, comedy, karaoke and other stage-based events. Its programme covers rock, punk, metal, alternative music and broader underground entertainment, giving Dante’s a more theatrical and chaotic character than a standard live music room.
Rock, punk and metal have long been part of the calendar, with touring bands, local underground acts and themed nights appearing alongside cabaret and burlesque. The venue’s regular Karaoke From Hell night uses a live band format, allowing singers to perform with musicians rather than a standard karaoke backing track.
Dante’s is also known for Sinferno Cabaret, a long-running alternative performance night mixing burlesque, circus, fire, sideshow and rock’n’roll spectacle. This combination of heavy music, cabaret, live-band karaoke and late-night club culture gives Dante’s a distinctive place in Portland’s underground nightlife.
