Godz is the most famous metal bar in Japan. Not surprising, since the pub opened back in 2002 and has been going strong ever since. Unlike most other pubs in Japan, we actually have to go down to the basement at Godz.
Behind its heavy soundproof door, they’ve got huge speakers playing loud metal. It’s not the place to have a good talk with your mates; you only go there to headbang and drink. You can write requests on a piece of paper and hand it to the bartender, and he’ll play your song. The music ranges from 80s hard rock to the most brutal and modern technical death metal. It’s about a 15-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station East exit.
