Randy Castillo’s grave is located at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in Albuquerque on 18 December 1950, Castillo became one of the city’s best-known metal musicians, spending much of his career behind the drum kit for Ozzy Osbourne before later joining Mötley Crüe.
Castillo joined Ozzy Osbourne’s band in the mid-1980s and remained for roughly a decade. He played on “The Ultimate Sin” (1986), “No Rest for the Wicked” (1988), “Just Say Ozzy” (1990), “No More Tears” (1991) and “Live & Loud” (1993), making him an important part of Osbourne’s late-1980s and early-1990s line-ups. Before working with Osbourne, he had played with Lita Ford, while in 1999 he was chosen to replace Tommy Lee in Mötley Crüe. Castillo recorded the band’s 2000 album “New Tattoo”, the only Mötley Crüe studio album not to feature Lee on drums.
Castillo was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma while he was a member of Mötley Crüe. After a period in remission, the cancer returned, and he died at his home in Los Angeles on 26 March 2002 at the age of 51. His remains were returned to his native Albuquerque and interred at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Castillo is located inside the Mount Calvary Chapel Mausoleum, at Row 101, Tier F. His final resting place has become a point of interest for fans of Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe and the wider heavy metal community visiting Albuquerque.
