Rock In is a rock and metal pub in Oslo, Norway. Originally opened in 1999, it is one of the city’s longest-running meeting places for metalheads and hard rock fans. Over the years, Rock In has moved through several locations in Oslo, and its 2026 reopening in Kristian IVs gate marks the fourth chapter in the venue’s history.
The pub has had an important place in Oslo’s metal scene, both as a social bar and as a small live venue. Bands and artists who have played Rock In include Testament, U.D.O., Paul Di’Anno, Borknagar, Vreid, The Devil’s Rejects, Carpathian Forest, In Flames, Sentenced, Dark Tranquillity, Artch, Freedom Call, Backstreet Girls and Blaze Bayley.
Rock In went through a turbulent period in 2025, when new owners took over the venue in March, leading to staff resignations and a boycott from many regulars. The company behind that version of the bar later went bankrupt. In June 2026, Rock In returned under its old ownership in a new location on the western side of central Oslo, just around the corner from Last Train.
The new Rock In is larger than the old pub and includes a separate room for the stage. The venue has been extensively renovated, with a cleaner and more polished interior while still keeping a rock and metal identity. With its new layout, dedicated stage room and return under familiar ownership, Rock In has re-entered Oslo’s nightlife as both a metal pub and a small concert venue.
