Runway Rock Fest is a hard rock festival in Elverum, Norway, scheduled to debut on 21 May 2027 at Starmoen Airport in Heradsbygd, a few kilometres south-east of the town centre.
The festival is built around classic hard rock, melodic rock and traditional heavy metal. The first announced bands include Dirkschneider Plays Accept, Gotthard, Pretty Maids, H.E.A.T, Michael Monroe, Roy Khan with a special set, Treat, Girlschool, Tank, Return, Ambush and Matanzick. The booking gives the debut edition a clear old-school hard rock profile, with Scandinavian, British and European acts at the centre of the programme.
Runway Rock Fest is backed by people with experience from Norwegian rock and concert promotion. Truls Bergersen and Vegar Straume are involved in the company behind the festival, while Jan Erik Salvesen and Jon Enger are also part of the team. Salvesen has previously been connected to projects such as Metal Heart Festival and Rock The Boat, giving the new festival a link to earlier Norwegian hard rock and metal events.
The location is one of the festival’s most distinctive features. Starmoen Airport is an active aviation centre and home to Norway’s national centre for gliding, with open grass areas, hangars and the Ole Reistad Centre forming part of the wider site. The setting gives Runway Rock Fest a broad outdoor arena shaped by airfield surroundings rather than a traditional festival park.
The Starmoen area has previously been used for public aviation events with flyshows, hangar cinema and concerts. Runway Rock Fest continues that use of the airfield as an event space, but with hard rock as the main focus.
