THE BROADFIELD

This big, lively student pub in Sheffield is not a metal or rock pub by any means. However, it is the place where Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson held his very first concert in 1976. This was with a band called Paradox, which later changed their name to Styx, unaware that there was already a famous band by that name.

The Broadfield hosted many bands during their heyday, and one incredible week in 1978 saw no less than a lineup of future local stars, including Clock DVA, Thompson Twins, Vice Versa, Def Leppard, The Human League, and Cabaret Voltaire.

The pub no longer presents live music following a major refurbishment in 2012.
