Trillians Rock Bar is a rock bar and small live music venue in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Tucked away in Princess Square near the city centre, it is one of the best-known rock and metal venues in Newcastle and has long been part of the city’s alternative music scene. Its programme includes live shows across rock, metal, punk, hardcore and related styles. This gives it a stronger connection to the local live circuit than an ordinary music pub.
Trillians also has a longer history than its current name suggests. Independent venue histories trace the site back to the 1970s, when it operated under earlier names before becoming Trillians. The bar closed for a period and reopened in 2015 under Dave Hills, who had previously worked there as a sound engineer for 23 years. That continuity has helped preserve its place as one of Newcastle’s established specialist venues for rock-oriented nightlife.
