La Taverna del Metallo is a medieval-themed metal pub and restaurant at Via Cernaia 17 in the historic centre of La Spezia, Italy. Founded in 2007 by Cristiano Pappalardo and Andrea Albericci, the tavern combines traditional Italian food, an extensive beer selection and a soundtrack of hard rock, heavy metal and folk music.

The interior is designed to resemble an old medieval tavern, with heavy wooden furniture, dark surroundings, candles, skulls and Gothic-inspired decoration. The small dining area accommodates approximately 30 people, with music ranging from classic bands such as Black Sabbath and Metallica to other forms of rock and metal.

Food is an important part of La Taverna del Metallo, with a menu featuring substantial meat dishes and regional Italian specialities. Among the dishes are wild boar with polenta, pork shank, goulash, ravioli, testaroli and sgabei, a traditional Ligurian fried bread. The beer selection includes several draught varieties alongside bottled Belgian, German and Italian beers. Since 2018, the tavern has also served its own Undici Amber Ale, brewed exclusively for the establishment by the local Birrificio del Golfo brewery.

In 2017, the business expanded into accommodation with the opening of La Taverna del Metallo Rooms. Located on the first floor of the building, the four guest rooms feature rustic interiors that complement the character of the tavern below.

The owners have also developed their own herbal liqueur, Prione – Essenza del Golfo, introduced in 2024 and named after the historic Via del Prione in La Spezia. Its recipe draws on local botanical ingredients, including helichrysum, St John’s wort, citrus, sage and three varieties of wormwood.
