Vulkan Arena is a concert venue and event space in Oslo, Norway. Located in the Vulkan area between Grünerløkka, St. Hanshaugen and Alexander Kiellands plass, the venue sits directly by Mathallen and forms part of one of Oslo’s most active urban culture and nightlife districts.
The venue is used for concerts, club nights, conferences and larger events, with a programme that has included rock, metal, alternative, electronic and club-oriented music. Its main hall has a capacity of around 850 people, making Vulkan Arena one of Oslo’s larger indoor club venues without moving into theatre or arena size. The wider venue complex also includes smaller event spaces and the sports pub Pokalen.
Vulkan Arena has hosted heavy music concerts and festival-related events, including shows connected to Inferno Metal Festival and Høstsabbat. Its central location, modern production setup and medium-sized capacity make it a regular Oslo venue for touring bands and special events that need more space than the city’s smaller rock bars, but a more intimate format than the larger concert halls.
