Iron Maiden in Oslo, Norway

Iron Maiden was founded by bassist Steve Harris on December 25th, 1975, in Leyton, East London, England. They performed their first gig at St Nicholas Hall in Poplar, London, on May 1st, 1976. In the early days, most of the members were from East London. Dave Murray is from Edmonton, Clive Burr is from East Ham, Essex, Paul Di’Anno is from Chingford, and Dennis Stratton is from Canning Town, all part of East London. Adrian Smith, who joined the band in 1981, was born in Hackney, Inner London, but grew up in Clapton, East London. Also drummer on “The Soundhouse Tapes” from 1979, Doug Sampson, came from Hackney. Bruce Dickinson, who joined Iron Maiden in 1981, is from Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England. Nicko McBrain, who joined Iron Maiden in 1983, is from Hackney, London. Janick Gers, who joined Iron Maiden in 1990, is from Hartlepool, Durham. Blaze Bayley, who became the vocalist from 1993 to 1999, is from Birmingham.

Today they all live in different parts of the world. Steve Harris lives in the Bahamas, USA. Dave Murray lives in Hawaii, USA. Adrian Smith lives in Malibu, California, USA. Bruce Dickinson lives in Paris, France, together with his French wife Leana Dolci. He still has his home in Chiswick, London, where he live from time to time. Nicko McBrain lives in Boca Raton, Florida, USA. Janick Gers lives in Yarm, Teesside, England.

Clive Burr died 12 March 2013 in London, due to complications related to multiple sclerosis. His memorial tree can be found in City of London Cemetery and Crematorium.
